what is the cheapest way to travel in the U.S?
i moved back to the states after living in Europe for 15 years. I was sad to find out the American train system AMTRAK is pitiful to say the least. it cost as much to travel 147 miles in america as 687 miles in Europe. plus there are so few destinations. i tried greyhound and that was great. very cheap and had great busses, however they take the most indirect route. it takes 6 hours to travel "2 car hours". is there a cheaper way than Amtrak and more direct way than Greyhound. I am traveling from. Norfolk (VA Beach,newport news) , Virginia to Arlington, Virginia (washington DC)

Buy a cheap car and when you are done traveling sell it off. That is what the guys of Top Gear did.

For public transportation, you described it perfectly: Cheap or fast, but you usually can't have it both ways. The exception is between large cities. For example, the bus between New York and Washington DC is usually very fast and goes direct. For travel in smaller towns, renting a car is usually the best way to go. Car rental is usually much cheaper than in Europe, and gas (petrol) is cheaper too. Often you can rent a car for around $30 a day.

Americans pay a much lower tax rate than people in Europe. As a result, public, subsidized services such as trains are not as efficient as the ones you will find in Europe. As one of the other people said, a rental car is probably your fastest and most affordable option

I need to find a mini dachshund breeder in DFW area?

There are a few dachshund rescue groups. Contact one of them. Check shelters and petfinder classfieds as well.

Check the Star Telegram- that's where I found my mini 'fatcat'. There are so many in the newspaper classifieds. It's the best place to find them. I live about an hour from the DFW area. and have bought 2 mini's from the newspaper.

I read that you get it at the Arlington Cemetary North but when I fast travel there, i come to the front of the Metro Station and don't know where to go from there. It looks as though i have to come from another way or something. Help please!

Look around. You are near the cemetary. The luck bobblehead is in one of the houses in the basement. If you find a shrine to Lincoln, you nkow you are in the right basement. check the shelves

What's the weather typically like in a Northern Virginia October?
I'm traveling to Arlington, VA in the Fall and would like to know what to expect of it. I've been told that it can snow in the Fall up there, but I"m not sure! So please give me as much info as possible

It is extremely unlikely to snow in November. Even in December, snow is usually a fluke. There is a little more rain, and temps can get below freezing, especially at night, but it's actually a little early to pull out winter coats.

It can, but rarely does. It's more likely to just rain. Snow doesn't happen as often as it should. I live in Southern Pennsylvania, and I've been to Virginia a few times. Their weather is similar to ours -- can be cold and brisk, can be rather warm... it depends if there is a warm or cold front coming through, etc. But most of the time, it's going to be a bit cool and calm. However sometimes it can be be in the 40s. It's a typical fall feeling weather

About Looking for a store in Arlington

Looking for a store in Arlington?
I am looking for the name of a plus-sized clothing store in Arlington. It is on South Cooper towards Sublet Road - but not really that far up - it is on the right hand side of the street facing when you are travelling towards Sublet - it is in a plaza, there is a Jack in the Box near the front of the plaza (closer to the road) there is a grocery store in the plaza (I think) - even if you could just tell me the name of the plaza or cross road right by it, I would appreciate it.
